AC Shadows Introduces Surprising AoT Event for Thanksgiving
In a unexpected partnership that defies usual expectations, the game developer has announced an in-game partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected holiday event runs from November 25 through December 22, including no-cost bonus story content for Shadows players.
Mysterious Adventure Uncovered
According to the authorized release, "A strange meeting pulls characters Naoe and Yasuke into a new quest, where whispers of forbidden rituals and monstrous transformations reverberate through the obscurity." The storyline presents a "unusually attired woman named Ada" who tasks the characters with traveling into the Crystal Cave—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her friend from a clandestine group.
The adventure centers on "bizarre tests and a fearsome foe" and is open to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.
Iconic Places and Metamorphoses
The teaser showcases the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was earlier where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through generations. The teaser finishes with a powerful scene showing a character, likely the prisoner, morphing into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.
Unique Items and Bonus Material
Players who successfully complete the adventure will receive an exclusive katana together with multiple items hidden throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also contains in-store Attack on Titan item packs, including:
- Titan-based outfit for Yasuke
- Mikasa outfit for Naoe
- Unique arms
- Survey Corps steed
Newest Free Story Content
This patch also introduces the game's newest no-cost story addition, titled "The Enigma." This playful adventure teams Naoe and Yasuke as they trade distinctive skills: Naoe debuts a performative variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires non-fatal stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "The Mystery" also includes a original environmental puzzle that may eventually shed light on some lingering questions from the main storyline.
Previous Anime Collaborations
This represents not the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with well-known anime series. The series earlier featured a 2020 crossover story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla informally featured a quest that unmistakably echoed the popular series One-Punch Man.
